Words of Wisdom and a short story of life’s lessons. I am beyond Blessed.
You are too.
Praying about what my next steps were before quitting my very secure and salaried corporate role and becoming my own boss at Hoelle Holistic Health and Spa was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I now create my own schedule to have slow mornings and experience the wonderful parts of life in the photo below.

It was a leap of faith and I really took a big leap into the scary unknowns. I know many people I’ve met recently in the Women’s Business group I joined are in the same position and wondering if they are ready to transition from their 9-5 into something that allows them to pursue their passions too.
I was concerned and posed the same questions many of you are asking yourselves “How will I make ends meet?”, “Can I really do it?”, “What about that safety cushion of salary?”
And some not so easy questions like: “What if I get sick again and end up back in my wheelchair?”, “What if I have to cancel appointments because of an EDS or Neuropathy flare?”, “What if I can’t freaking do this?”, “Am I undercharging for my services?”, “I just want to help people, how do you put a price on this?”
I prayed a lot about it. I knew what I wanted to do, I wanted to help people like me. People who were stuck. People who needed a nervous system reset, people who have chronic illness and pain and want something better than some poison pill from the doctor before getting shuffled through the medical system from one doctor to the next (trust me, i’ve been there!) – but I wasn’t sure how I was going to execute the plan. Once I received the message from the heavens, “All systems go!”, I put in my departure notice and was halfway done with my business plan. I filed my articles of incorporation and felt like it was getting real.
I’m a visionary, I had a vision for this space I am in. I have seen it a few times and when I found out it was opening up, I jumped on it. Something important I learned in this process is making connections. Connect with your neighbors, connect with your building managers, connect with your future clients. Create a space where people feel comfortable and safe around you and build trust. That has been crucial to my growth as a small business in a location with very little foot traffic.
The next thing I learned was to lead by example. I know you cannot help others if you cannot help yourself. People are watching and will stray away if you are offering a service that you are not capable of receiving or giving to yourself. So you must lead by example. My story is my example. I went from being bedridden and chronically ill, wheelchair bound and miserable, to clawing my way out through God, Self Love, and Holistic protocols, many of them that I developed myself through trial and error and realized, I can help others with this too. I have to. Why else did I endure all of this in the first place? I am not going to sit idly. I have been given a gift and through God and the action of Love I AM going to share it.
But I did recently feel hung up on pricing my services. If I could, I would just give everything away for free – and I found myself unable to make a sustainable business model because I was in fact giving discounts on everything to everyone just out of the kindness of my heart. Then I talked to Rox Marie – and she gave me some exercises to “Price it Like You Mean it” and I worked through those.
Not only did I come to a greater understanding of what tangible results others are receiving in the short and long term of my services and the unique and customized healing experience each person receives, but I took a look around me and saw what others were pricing similar services at. (Including places I go to!) I saw where I can make improvements, and I changed my business model to focus on helping me help others. ![]()
What I am saying is – PRAY when you don’t know what to do.
MEDITATE to hear the answers to your prayers, or look for them in subtle messaging (Those AHA moments! or something someone says to you or something you read, or opportunities that open up)
TRUST your gut instinct (your conscience) it will not lead you astray
BE OPEN to new opportunities to connect with others
SHARE your gift and your story
FOLLOW YOUR PASSION and do what you love
That is the key to unlocking your true potential and life’s purpose and you can do it.
Lastly, I’m thankful everyday that I have a supportive husband who gives me the space and opportunity to create and live my dreams. He provides our son and I a safe and secure life. I know that not everyone has that. I never had it before until I met him. So I thank Mr. Hoelle endlessly.
